Happy Birthday Brady--February 25
Today we celebrate the birthday of Brady Smith. I honestly know nothing about Brady. Usually I either get emails back from roommates or can come up with something based on facebook. Brady has his facebook information blocked and his roommates didn't help much (or at all)... So here is what I can tell you: Brady is from Taylorsville, Utah and is an exercise science major.
If you have more information about Brady feel free to leave a comment and tell us more.
If you want to get to know him better head over to S8. I am sure he would be thrilled to tell you his life story.
Happy Birthday Brady!

The ones that SHOULD be--Ward Valentine's Activity
After the last post teaching people how to flirt at a ward activity, the ward valentine's activity was the perfect place for people to test out their new moves.
They tried them out speed dating,
talking,
and even in the Dating Game. Some people won romantic dates with their potential true love! Look where you may end up just by going to a ward activity...
Preston and Joceyln may end up having a deep romantic walk on the beach.
Robert and Meredith will sit down for a candle lit dinner.
Spencer and Lauren will be taking a trip to France! Perhaps with dinner on the Champs-Elysées?
And it seems like Tom and Jessie are perhaps already engaged?!?!
So far these couples look like they could hit it off. We will have to be updated after the first date takes place.
Random thoughts: Last night as I was at the ward activity I looked around at the members of our ward. I saw all of the amazing girls and all of the amazing guys. The wheels in my head started spinning as I thought of people that would make perfect couples...what can I say, I am a fabulous match maker. Why should I keep this fun to myself?
Introducing, the ward matchmaking service. Click here if you would like to vote on couples in the ward that SHOULD be dating. Who knows, you could be influential in helping ward members find that special someone.
For all pictures from the ward activity click here.
Happy Birthday Tom--February 18
Thomas Black from Washington is turning 23 today! He is currently studying Chinese, and also knows Hmong--pretty awesome. He wants to use his language skills in a business profession. Tom did a study abroad in China and was actually on a Chinese knockoff version of American Idol. Yep, he sings and plays the guitar really well.
Tom went on his mission to Wisconsin--the land of cheese and beer-brats. He drives a white ford ranger named Shadowfax (ala Lord of the Rings).
Tom is a very diligent student and spends most of his time with Harold. Some of his favorite places to study are the third floor "no sh zone" and in the second floor maps section. Is stalking him acceptable? That is up to you.

She is engaged to Justin Grant Johansen--who is going to be a dentist... perfect couple! Kara and Grant are getting married in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple on April 16th. She is awfully excited and can still be seen twinkling her ring during church.

Happy Birthday Greg--February 14
Gregory Scott Livingston is turning 24 today! He is an English major and plans to graduate in December 2011, after that he will work in the business field. He got an internship this summer at Orange Soda and will be writing articles for them to publish. He is an extremely talented writer. After a few years working where ever, he will go back to get his MBA. Greg loves food but especially Mounds bars. His favorite colors are blue and yellow (blue because it matches his eyes and it's his favorite color to wear. Yellow because that is his personality color on the color code.)
Greg's all time favorite outfit to wear when he
was in middle school was a t-shirt with a giant fish on it and a pair of soccer shorts. At school the students had a talk on dress code standards, during which the students were told if they could feel skin while having their arms at their sides their shorts were too short.Greg could feel skin! Not wanting to give up his favorite outfit Greg started sagging his shorts and continued to style his fish tee and soccer shorts.
A lazy summer day for Greg includes listening to soft jazz in his bath robe while sipping down a homemade mojitos--no joke.

Happy Birthday Jess--February 13
Today is Jessica Cameron Ward's birthday. She is from Laguna Hills, California and majoring in English with an editing minor. She served in the New York Rochester Mission from February 2009-August 2010 and worked chiefly at the Hill Cumorah Historical Sites. She loves traveling and hopes to go to Prague soon, but London is her favorite. She plays the piano and the cello, and enjoys black and white movies. Right now she works at the MTC and as a writing tutor. She can't wink. Right now the biggest part of her life plan is marrying David Durham Larsen.
How did she meet David? When they were both eighteen-years-old they lived in Helaman Halls. He noticed Jess the first day while she played the piano. It took her a little bit longer to notice him. The first time they ever hung out was on a snowboarding trip. She choked on root beer while laughing and passed out. He revived her. (Isn't that romantic?) She then threw up...all over him! After that they were friends. (Best story ever!)
They admitted they liked each other right before he left on his mission to Germany and wrote monthly while he was gone. Three months before he came home she left on a mission and they continued to write--but not mushy-gushy. Through those letters she learned what was important to him and what made him laugh.
When they were finally both in the States and both off their missions, they literally met at the airport, and within two days they were dating. Within two months, they knew they wanted to get married.
Actual engagement story: He surprised her by flying out to CA New Year's Day from Texas and meeting her on the beach where they'd first kissed four years ago--he went down on knee, asked Jess to marry him, and she said yes.
They're getting married May 21, 2011 in the Newport Beach, CA temple.
Jess shares her advice for those of us that are single. "There is no formula. Go out there, make friends, DATE (it can be fun!), and trust that everything works out. And if your life plan changes drastically (like, say, you suddenly feel you should go on a mission or any number of major life changes) still trust that everything works out. I had a lot of different experiences before David and I finally "worked out"--some were fun, some not so much, but I think they make me a more rounded, complete person and those experiences have blessed our relationship."
Congratulations and Happy Birthday Jess.

Happy Birthday Angela and Liz--February 12
Angela Elisabeth Hutchinson is now 21! She is a vocal performance major and plans to marry a tall man, use her vocal skills to sing her ten children to sleep every night, and live happily ever after. She enjoys music, the church, chick flicks, cross stitching, Mississippi Mud Pie, and going on dates. She currently works at Hogi Yogi and tends to lose the key to her apartment and her cell phone.
In high school she was sick during picture week and the sickness made the muscles on the side of her face not work properly and so she couldn't smile right. One of her teachers was taking class photos and still made her take one even though she looked like stroke victim.
Hope you are having a terrific birthday Angela!
Who else is celebrating their birthday today? Elizabeth Mullins is! She is from Richmond, Virginia and majoring in theater/dance. She loves pink Star Bursts, red Mike and Ike's, shoes, movies, and taking walks! She enjoys going on adventures.

Happy Birthday Todd--February 9
Todd Daniel Wilde is turning 24 today! He is majoring in exercise science and plans on being a physical therapist. He currently works at the Life Sciences Stock Room. He enjoys rock climbing and canyoneering.
Daniel Barrak shares a great story regarding Todd. "I grew up in the same ward as Todd and our brothers' are best friends so we got to be friends too. Todd is older than me so I looked up to him a lot. When I was still pretty young I got a doll that was a baby and it needed a name so I named it "Baby Todd" after him."
Now isn't that precious? I think so! Have a fabulous birthday Todd!

FHE--Flirting Harvests Enchantment!
Bishopric FHE's are always delightful and insightful. What was learned at February seventh's FHE? Tonight's lesson was How to FLIRT at a ward activity.
Step one: The initial attraction. How do you get that special someone to notice you? Impress them with your various talents.
Way to go for the sisters.
Serenade those girls!
Are there tennis balls up your sleeve?
Step two: Let them know you think highly of them. A little positive reinforcement goes a long way.
Step three: Nothing says love more than a gaze into that special someone's sea green/ice blue/milk chocolate brown/hazel eyes. Let them read your soul!
Step four: The lean. Casual but sexy.
Step five: Dr. Phil says....8 out of 5 psychologists say that in clinical trials a strategically placed hand elevates the relationship.
Too high? Friends. Too low? Not ward blog appropriate. Just right--jackpot! -Hitch
Step six: The triple threat. Touching, teasing, and total eye contact.
Step seven: "Can I have your numba, can I have it?"
Step eight: Be engaged.
The questions still remaining...
1. Are you allowed to date those whom you home teach?
2. Furthermore, is dancing at a ward activity attractive?
3. Are neck grabs that attractive? Or is it just Preston?
4. Are double roommate combo's allowed?
5. When is it too late? I think they are out of the question.
Moral of the story: follow these simple guidelines and you will fall head-over-heels in love!

Allison Tanner is turning 21 today! She is majoring in Civil Engineering (no, she isn't weird). She loves skiing at Snowbird, eating chocolate chip cookies, and pink. An embarrassing moment for Allison occurred when she ran a RED LIGHT in Las Vegas on THE STRIP. All those in the car almost died.
