Ward Variety Show

In case you missed it (or don't remember it), check out the ward variety show from a few weeks ago! Let me tell ya, this ward is talented. It all started with a dessert contest.

Just some beautiful people enjoying desserts.

Everyone enjoys a good dessert, especially when it's fed to you.

All the cool kids go to ward activities

Bishop and his wife judging the desserts...hard job

This chocolate milk has the Kelsey Hirsche stamp of approval
Check out those dessert contest winners! I know who I'm going to next time I need a baked treat...

Following the dessert portion of the evening, we transitioned into the talent portion of the evening. We got to see a lot of different performances: some serious, some funny, and even some romantic.
Brother Mower shared some great cowboy poetry, even some of his own original creations.

Who can forget the skit from Center 7?
The guest appearance from PR finished off the sketch
Nathan and Caroline cultured us with a beautiful French song
Tap Dancing never looked like more fun
Thanks to our great MC's
One of our Elders Quorums shared the musical stylings of the kazoo

Justyne performed a fun Disney song
Brian serenaded us with his new-found guitar skills
We even got to listen to some classical bass playing
Julie and her friend rocked the house with their hip-hop routine
Nathan and Tyler sang some funny Flight of the Concords
The performers had the audience intrigued. We laughed, we cried, it was great.
We got to hear a new take on a Disney song
The night finished off with Johnny serenading Kelsey, who thought it was only for her birthday. Little did she know there was much more in store. Don't worry everybody, he did propose before the night was over. How could he not after a performance like that?
Sorry guys, she's officially taken!

New Year...New Bishopric

Last Friday we had our first ward activity with the new bishopric. In case you haven't met them, they're great! For our activity, we played a fun get to know you game, with Nathan and Averill as our hosts

We heard lots of interesting facts and funny stories from the bishopric and their wives. Turns out Bishop asked his wife to marry him over the phone. Worked for them, but don't get any ideas guys...

We also had these lovely ladies help cue the audience. Some of us are better followers than others.

The audience, anxiously awaiting the things to be learned about our new bishopric.

We even had a mission call to Mexico announced.

The best part may have been Bishop demonstrating his "worm." I'd be lying if I didn't say I was expecting something completely different. If you missed out, I'm sure Bishop would be thrilled to reenact it for you!

What's a ward activity without food? The lovely people behind the scenes made grilled cheese for the masses. After pounds of cheese, tubs of butter, and a couple dozen killed outlets in the church, dinner was a success.

Oh just some wardies enjoying their grilled cheese.

Richard gives this activity a thumbs up!

Oh look, so does Jackie.

I can already tell this new bishopric is going to be a ton of fun for the ward. Be sure to get to know them!

Just Dance!

Last week for home evening, we went to a street dance that was part of Springville's World Folkfest. In the parking lot of the art museum, dancing groups from different countries took turns teaching everyone a traditional dance or two, and then we joined in dancing with them.  We had fun dancing alongside Croatians, Puerto Ricans, Spaniards, and lots of others!

Ward Camping Trip

For the last weekend in July, we had our 1st Annual Ward Camping Trip!  It was Olympics-themed because it happened the night of the opening ceremonies.  There was a good turnout and we had a blast!

We enjoyed hanging around before the evening's activities:

Then we divided into our teams for the "Opening Ceremonies":

Team Black:  "Bringing Sexy Black"

Team Yellow:  "The Police"

Team Red:  "Red Eyes"

Team Blue:  "The Blue Bullets"

Team Green:  "Mighty Ducks"

Then we competed in 3 different events:  tug-of-war, 3-legged-race, and the human knot.

We were also judged on skits that we prepared and presented as teams:

Afterwards, we enjoyed chilling around the campfire and eating s'mores:

After a pleasant night under the stars, we had breakfast, packed up, and headed home to good ol' Provo:
