Trivia Night: The Greatest Knowldege Test Against Peers

Tyler Mower gave us a really nice treat for trivia night this week. It was really good! We had a lot of people come and join us over at the Mower's. We ended up being on their lawn and Tyler did a quiz type Trivia Night. He would say the question and how much that question was worth. We then wrote down what we thought the answer was and then grade ourselves based off of the honor code. It was a great way to go about testing our knowledge on our great country! Dan McIntosh ended up winning with a close call between Ben Haymond and Bro. Mower. It was a really exciting ordeal. Dan ended up winning one of Tyler's T-shirts, as in one that he made. The rest of us enjoyed Bro and Sis. Mower's famous homemade cobbler and some lemon bars. We then had our own firework show, also provided by Tyler. It was really fun and we all enjoyed each others company.
Trivia Night is a great tradition in which the person who hosts gets to pick the topic, the prize for the winner, and how the questions are going to be answered. It is a great time for each of us to get to know each other better and to test our knowledge. If you guys would love to join, including the Bishopric and their families, we have it every Wed. at 9pm in All. 14. So tell your friends and come and join us for a night of fun and learning.

Softball: A Whoops and Some Fun

Sorry, for the image quality, the lights were really bright and this is my phone that I'm using. But over all our Softball team has great potential. They were doing great for it being 7 players against 10 players. It was a lot of fun to see our friends in action to try and stop the other team from getting onto base. We did have a slight accident. Josh Guerrero tried to catch a pot fly and ended up catching the ball with his face, unfortunately. Josh is fine though, just a couple of stitches and looking like a panda for a couple of days. This made it that we were down by two players though. We did really well though and hope to possibly win the next game. You guys should all go and support them and then support the Ultimate Frisbee team that was just put together. Here are some pictures from the game.

World Wide Leadership Training

Here is a recap for those of you who were unable to watch or would like a reminder of this spiritual event. The broadcast itself was done very beautifully. The choir was really big and they sang wonderfully. The Church even showed off what their technology can now do. Doing live phone conferences to Washington DC; Lima, Peru; and Hawaii. They also helped us to define what our Quorum of the 70 is around for. They are here to help preach the gospel and to be a witness unto the Gentiles. We are then to look at our area 70 for guidance in what we should be doing for Missionary work.
 Along these lines, Missionary work has moved forward in the fact that Missonaires can now use e-mail, Facebook, and mormon.org to contact people. They have even started to open up meeting houses, so then people can take a look inside of our churches. And this brings us to the main point of this meeting, that we as members all need to be ward missionaries.
What this means is that we should be willing to talk to people about our religion. I don't mean that we should go forth and try to convert someone on our own. I'm saying that if there is someone in your life that seems interested and asks you a lot of questions about religion then say, "Hey, I have these two friends that are totally willing to answer any questions that you might have about my religion. Would you like to meet with them?" Sounds simple enough but I know that you will need to have some courage, but if we pray for the strength and courage then we can all meet someone that will be willing to be spiritually uplifted. I believe that this was the main message that the First Presidency was trying to tell us, and so we should honor this request by trying our hardest to be Ward Missionaires. Let's put our best foot forward and strive to do our best. I know that we can do it.

The Peak of all Peaks: Seven Peaks

Hey Everyone!
I hope that all of you had a great time at Seven Peaks, but for those of you who missed it, here are some highlights.
We had a wonderful breakfast, courtesy of the Stake, and then got to play to our heart's content. I didn't see a lot of you, but what I did see looked like you were all having a lot of fun. I saw a huge dog pile on a couple of tubes in the wave pool. I also saw lots of people around the slide area. Overall, I had a blast though and I hope you guys did too. Oh, and I haven't seen anything else on the monster yet, but enjoy some of the pictures below.

The Great and Wonderful Slip 'n Slide

Hey Everyone! It's now time to talk about The Great and Wonderful Slip 'n Slide, and as you can see there is Nate showing off his mad Slip 'n Slide skills (Loud and Uproarious Applause). We all had a great time. We had a water balloon fight, Frisbee golf, Frisbee, soccer, volleyball, slip n' side, and of course lots of water! Here are some of the pictures of the activities. But let's not forget that we also had a huge water target during the activity. Tyler Walke was a great sport and was the rabbit for all of the guys. David Wild gave a valiant effort but Tyler was just too quick for him. Tyler was caught though and then tried to go after David but failed also. Overall it was a great activity with a great ward, another ward (the 167th ward), great games, and of course great food (JDawgs). And of course what activity isn't complete without a mystery. While I was in my car I managed to find a creature that kind of looked like this.

He has a tail, is very fuzzy, black, has horns, and can swim. I was like it's either a monster, a yokai, or a goblin. I just didn't know what it was and of course I couldn't get a picture of it but if you wanna go look for it later then I'm game.Well that's it for this post. Anxiously Engaged

This leads perfectly into the topic that we are supposed to talk about and yes I will sum up. This bright and shinning Spring/Summer will hopefully have us all being Anxiously Engaged with each other in the ward and outside of the ward. This means that we should be willing and ready to serve one another, and not in just watching out for others, but to be there and be willing to serve whenever we can. The Bishopric has asked that we try to be Anxiously Engaged in everything that we do. Let's try to do our best and see what we can all come up with, as an individual and as a whole group. This should be fun and exciting. I can't wait to see what we come up with and we shall see what we do come up with the next post, the Great and Wonderful Slip 'n Slide. 

Ward Temple Trip

Last Saturday the ward traveled to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. About 40 ward members were able to attend. Some people even brought family names! It was a success.

In the words of Jenny Ward, "It was phenomenal; Everything we hoped and more."

In case you didn't make it to the ward temple trip, try and take the time this month to go on your own or with roommates, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, fiances, whoever! You could even invite Bishop and Sister Thorn and the Mowers. Rumor has it they couldn't find the ward group at the temple last Saturday...

Ward Variety Show

In case you missed it (or don't remember it), check out the ward variety show from a few weeks ago! Let me tell ya, this ward is talented. It all started with a dessert contest.

Following the dessert portion of the evening, we transitioned into the talent portion of the evening. We got to see a lot of different performances: some serious, some funny, and even some romantic.

 Brother Mower shared some great cowboy poetry, even some of his own original creations.

The performers had the audience intrigued. We laughed, we cried, it was great.

The night finished off with Johnny serenading Kelsey, who thought it was only for her birthday. Little did she know there was much more in store. Don't worry everybody, he did propose before the night was over. How could he not after a performance like that?

New Year...New Bishopric

Last Friday we had our first ward activity with the new bishopric. In case you haven't met them, they're great! For our activity, we played a fun get to know you game, with Nathan and Averill as our hosts

We heard lots of interesting facts and funny stories from the bishopric and their wives. Turns out Bishop asked his wife to marry him over the phone. Worked for them, but don't get any ideas guys...

We also had these lovely ladies help cue the audience. Some of us are better followers than others.

We even had a mission call to Mexico announced.

The best part may have been Bishop demonstrating his "worm." I'd be lying if I didn't say I was expecting something completely different. If you missed out, I'm sure Bishop would be thrilled to reenact it for you!

What's a ward activity without food? The lovely people behind the scenes made grilled cheese for the masses. After pounds of cheese, tubs of butter, and a couple dozen killed outlets in the church, dinner was a success.
